The following information is provided by the central office of The American Guild of Organists. The link at the end of the page goes directly to the national database which includes names of members of our chapter. It is suggested that CFAGO members register in this new database, as it will likely provide more timely information to aid you in a search for a substitute.

Substitute Organists & Freelance Musicians

For many years the CFAGO Yearbook and CFAGO.org have included a listing of Teachers, Wedding, Funeral and Service organists. Members self-nominated themselves when renewing their membership. National AGO is no longer providing this detail in the regular membership enrollment process. 

AGO has recently introduced a registration system for Substitute Organists and Freelance Musicians. 

Substitute Organists

Many AGO members are active substitutes and are available for regular worship, concerts, and special services, such as weddings and funerals. Substitute organists holding AGO certificates have passed all necessary requirements for their level of certification in organ performance, service playing, and/or choral conducting. To begin your listing:

  • Sign in and create your substitute listing, including experience, preferences, and availability.
  • Provide consent to have your contact information made publicly available.
  • Update your availability in your member profile.

Freelance Musicians

Many AGO members are available for performances on other instruments. This directory is also open to non-members for $50 per year. Prospective employers are encouraged to request references to verify proficiency in the specific skills required. Non-members will be required to create a profile to create and pay for a listing. To begin your listing:

  • Sign in or create your profile to begin a listing, including experience, preferences, and availability.
  • Provide consent to have your contact information made publicly available.
  • Update your availability in your profile, as necessary.

The CFAGO Yearbook and CFAGO.org will look to this AGOHQ data base to compile a list of available musicians for local publication.
